Saguaro Sunset

This small painting on wood has gone through several transformations. I originally created it in various earth tones, accented with shades of yellow, orange and red. However, it failed to meet my expectations. I had never painted on wood before, so I didn’t realize the wood soaked up much of the paint. I hung it in a guest room for a few years. One day as I passed by it, I had a vision. I could capture more light if I painted over it with lighter, brighter colors. Finally, after two years, it’s appearance matched my imagination!
